Material Choices

The selected materials have been chosen to juxtapose the existing material palette, making it clear what is new and what is existing. The existing ruin is in need of repair with some materials deteriorating, shown in images in photo collection E. The ruin’s materials are to be left open to touch and to view, once vital repairs have been undertaken. The choice of materials are to highlight the heritage of the ruin and to respect what is existing. The proposal is to be constructed and deconstructed with the least amount of impact on the ruin.
